4 walls and a locked door

yes, i am being falsely imprisoned by finals...i am studying against my will with a force of threat due to my large studetn loans and the school is liable becasue none of my exams are open outline so i believe becasue i am concious this could be false imprisonment...hey I can argue it, I don't have to win

contrats final...should of signed the one the devil offered!

So, um, wtf was that?!? that seems to be the consensus, but seriously....the other section, all in the library, smiling, laughing, they still have their souls intact; our section, we all walk out of there loking like someone either killed our puppy in front of us or that we just had a lobotomy performed, and badly at that, follwed by running to get to our car and away from that school as fast as possible!
2 more to go (torts and property) at least no more K until Januray!

so, i love jamie oliver, but....

um, i'm not sure why anyone would do this...

but even if he did suffer a giant lapse of judgment here, i'd still run away with him

Civ Pro I dead, gone, done!

And final number 1 is over! after a small hiccup with examsoft this morning (i.e. have the exam i downloaded not show up and not being able to download it again without a large group of people needing to get involved) I was off and typing and filling in bubbles. now, to focus on contracts or figure out the meaning of life?

See, the name is rather self explanatory...

the bluebook is your not true!

in one hour my fellow 1Ls and I will be sitting down for our second and final quiz for legal methods. Now I recall my professor, who, by the way had a baby like 6 weeks in and stuck us with a second prof for the semester (which is a whole 'nother issue I won't get into right now), said they moved the memo up from being due after thanksgiving break, which would have been a wonderful time to have it due, IMO, to the day before break started, so we could be good and done with methods at thanksgiving and be able to focus on the finals they have decided this year to give 1 day apart rather than 3-4 apart like every year before. Instead of this statement, which I have verified with multiple people in my class that she did say something to that effect, and as there is no counterargument here, why do we have a quiz 5 days before our first final? And furthermore, why were we required to attend class at 9am on Tuesday? So here we sit bunched in the library, outlined out, and for a nice break, we are going to have you puke back all the research and information you didn't use but had to learn for this class, where you didn't get to evaluate your prof, cause you had 2 and might confuse them, cause we are only law students and names and faces are something we just are not good with, and then flip through the bluebook, which is aptly named, cause its blue, to find out how all the cites you used for your memo were somehow deficient.

This has to be some sort of Intentional Infliction of Emotion Distress that I definately did not consent to, implicitly or explicitly.....

calling all wikipedia geeks

part of my civil procedure final is on the novel, i know, what about your casebook, don't worry we got those questions too, our professor was nice enough to manage to add non-case reading to his syllabus while not taking out any of the other readings (so really, its just extra work), but back to the novel A Civil Action (which i could cite per bluebook, but that might induce my screaming to get louder) I read this book over the summer as it was on the list of recommended readings for incoming I don't have time to reread the whole thing, cause there are other things to do, like, say hang out in the library til 1am memorizing the Restatements (Second) of Contracts (once again, if you ask me to bluebook, I will reach over the internet and strangle you). So being the ever resourceful student, I began looking for supplements, i.e., cliffnotes, sparknotes,, etc...i found nothing...(seriously cliffs notes, i relied on you in high school, where did the love go?)...So I turned to my other goto cite, Wikipedia. Now, usually it doesn't let me down, but the page for A Civil Action, it is just sad, there isn't even a real plot synopsis. Who would do this....this is my need, can we trace if anyone, such as my professor, has changed this entry to remove things i would need...

Apparently its cold and flu season...

25 days until exams start and a girl in Torts starts coughing today?! OK, I have managed to make it all semester without getting deathly ill and if those germs floating around after her coughing fit get me sick I will seriously hurt someone...time to load up on vitamins and Purell and skin moisturizer, because apparently moisturized skin repels germs:)

In law school there are no good days or bad days, there are just too few hours in every day...

I left the library. I just couldn't do it anymore. My brain literally shut down. No more info going in, out, or even through it; it was all just bounced back out. I am home, in my tiny, sparse apartment thinking about how I desperately need to purchase a futon and how I should paint my walls and put up some artwork. I'm thinking a light sea blue...

Civ Pro 10/24

Def. acted

Def. intended

Plain. Suffered no harmful contact.

Def. really wanted to hurt Plain.

He swing his stick

The stick hit Plain. In head

So swinging the stick hurt plain. Really bad

Combine them, though, and you will pass….kill me now please!

It seems so easy when the Prof explains it…all you need is glue, most useful by sniffing itJ

With an actual day off (not a weekend) thoughts set in...

My first semester of law school is now officially half over. Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing has yet to be ascertained. I have taken a new view of whats going on in that building of learning I go back to every day...
Forget what they say about law school being a isn't even at Boston marathon level. Its the Iron Man triathlon! You go and go til you no longer have feeling in your legs because you have been pushing so hard, and at the same time you are looking around at all your surroundings in awe hoping to one day be able to enjoy them instead of biking those 112 miles.

And, I am attempting to regain that small part of my sanity that the combination of law school and alcohol is bleeding out of me. I joined a gym, where everyday I go, away from school and my apartment, and pedal for miles and miles to nowhere. I listen to my iPod on shuffle and I read. I only read NON-LAW SCHOOL BOOKS. This one hour is what I am willing to carve out of my study time to promote maintaining my mind so I know why I put myself through this and return to that building every morning.

Examsoft...stupidity at its finest

I am sitting in the orientation for use and this is the most retarded "talk" I've ever been to. talk about a waste of time on my part:( I should have stayed and read for civ pro...

As week 0 begins to draw to a close...

only 2 more classes until my orientation days are over and I'm a full fledged law student! I have my tuition paid, my book purchased, a network compliant laptop and I'm off and running, to the library... The first assignments have been posted and sheesh is there a lot of work to be done before those oh so important first class meetings...talking to some of my classmates, I am already behind, here I am trying to remeber all these peoples names and they are already forming study to get into one early, they are like cliques, only the cool kids get in:) Maybe I should go the legally blonde route and bring muffins while wearing a bunny costume!! or maybe I should stop focusing on the fact that I have a test tomorrow and start focusing on the fact that i have class on Monday.

Thoughts as to what my weekend will consist of:
going to the library
watching HSM2, because I can watch it 3 hours before Betty in CA and you know she will be jealous (and mindless sugar coated high school drama seems just about the right genre for a stressed out 1st year law student ot be watching)
writing briefs
more studying
and hour or 2 of sleep
cleaning the dust off the apartment i will only be sleeping in from now on
oh and some more reading

With no decent Mexican food, no alcohol sold on sundays, and the fact you have to travel from the market to a seperate store to purchase it....what have i gotten myself into?!
Just keep reminding yourself...3 years from now, I get to pay back $100,000 in student loans so you better do freaking awesome so you make enough to do that:)

State of the MY Union

It took over 100 years...we finally have a sargeant at arms who is able to say madame speaker, and she is a Californian to boot! We have two outstanding democratic candidates in the field, who, if either is elected, to either office, will make history...or herstory if you go that way...We could make history in both offices, we could catch up with the rest of the developing world...We are living in a time of great change, or as the astrologer in Vanity Times says, the end of a pluto cycle. This change could make or break us, the decisions made at the end of this administration and the begining of the next will define the futeure...they will determing your future, your children's future, your parent's future, and most importantly MY future...where will I go from here, where will you go from here...will there be a here to go from??

We survived another March for Life with no bombings, we still have a central government, despite the scandals, and the exective branch has discovered the genocide in Darfur...things are looking up as the sun sets on the current presidential administration as the horizon stretches to the next round of politicos to battle it out, to reach out and do what they think is right.

And now the paid talking heads will have their airtime.......
